The Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center is a not-for-profit, Medicaid-certified, state licensed skilled nursing facility, offering an affordable alternative for gracious living. Opened in 1992 with twelve skilled nursing beds, 24 residential care beds and two adult day care beds, we have grown and expanded over the years, and currently offer 66 semi-private and 24 private skilled nursing beds. With our latest expansion, completed in late 2010, our total capacity increased to 120 beds, of which fifteen are dedicated to the care and treatment of Alzheimer's residents in our newly designed Memory Care Unit.
Our benefactor, Sylvia G. Thompson, donated three million dollars to build this facility to serve the elderly of Pettis County. She stipulated that the facility be furnished luxuriously and staffed lavishly to provide the highest quality of care attainable. With professionally-decorated rooms and common areas and double the staff that the state requires, our goal remains to ensure a superior quality of care and quality of life for our residents.
